Most people do not know the difference between Bikram and hot Yoga. Both types of Yoga are performed in the heated room and make you sweat a lot, but still, they are very different from each other.

The idea behind this Yoga is that heat helps loosen muscles, and sweating detoxifies and cleanses your body cells from the inside. 

Bikram is a type of hot Yoga. The other hot yoga types are Moksha Yoga or Modo Yoga in the U.S. and CorePower Yoga.

However, some yoga teachers and studios have their way of offering different styles of Hot Yoga.

What Is Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga was introduced by the famous and celebrities popular yoga instructor Bikram Choudhary.

He has made it originally that has to be performed within the hot room. This yoga style is a set of 26 yoga asanas or postures that include two pranayama exercises.

It has to be performed two times in one day class of 90 minutes. 

Some other styles of Hot Yoga also included some poses from the Bikram yoga; however, others do not include any. 

Bikram Yoga has to be followed by a set series of 26-yoga poses; however, other hot yoga classes do not have a set series of poses.

The teacher teaches Bikram yoga poses in a high-temperature room of 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hot yoga poses can be done under any range of temperatures between 95-105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tips For Hot Or Bikram Yoga Day

  • Hot Yoga or Bikram Yoga will make you sweat a lot on your yoga mats. Instead of daily yoga mats, you should use mat towels called Yogitoes Skidless. You can place these towels over your yoga mat, and they will absorb sweat instantly. 
  • The right kind of yoga wear is also crucial while performing hot Yoga. You have to choose the right yoga wear to avoid getting irritated by sweating. Tight-fitting and short wears are best while doing hot yoga poses. 
  • It would help if you did hot Yoga under the temperature range between 95 to 105 Fahrenheit; otherwise, it won’t have many effects on your body. 
  • Before starting any of this Yoga, you should drink enough water at least half an hour before the beginning. This will prevent you from getting dehydrated. 
  • You can also take a small sip of water or a glucose drink in between Yoga. This will make you feel energetic and prevent you from feeling drowsy. 
  • Make sure not to drink much water between practice. You may feel bloating and become uncomfortable while doing Yoga. 
  • Yoga beginners and pregnant women are not allowed to do Hot Yoga or Bikram. It may increase body temperature, and you may get faint.

Some yoga studios will provide mat towels. Before using them, ask whether they are cleaned or not. These towels may contain germs and cause many skin-related diseases if they are not cleaned.
